Environmental Achievements and Nominee's Profile: Happy Earth has undertaken the "Adopt-a-Native Tree" project which won the prestigious ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNICATIONS AWARD conferred by the European Nature Heritage Fund (Euronatur) and the Bellagio Forum for Sustainable Development. This project has a link with their first publication entitled "ARE YOU THE FOREST KING?" The main thrust of this project is to build forests that will benefit succeeding generations, increase biodiversity, and enrich the lives of all who participate in this endeavor. Each book helps sponsor one (1) native tree seedling. People at the grassroots are encouraged to grow native trees as a livelihood and the trees are planted back into the surrounding areas where they where originally found. Agreements are made with schools, churches and institutions who are committed to nurture the trees. Happy Earth's educational materials like the books and cartoon produce a fun, relevant and effective learning experience for all. Thru the website, www.forestking.com.ph, tree sponsors may access information which will identify where their trees are being cared for. The "Adopt-A-Native Tree" project was initiated in order to provide an exemplar integrated program using Happy Earth's materials. This model was specifically designed to bring about a sustained positive impact to the community. PROGRAM PARTNERS: NEXUS TECHNOLOGIES and ABC-CBN Bantay Kalikasan La Mesa Watershed Project. Ma.
