World Environment Day
On 5 June 2022, World Environment Day ran just days after the Stockholm+50 conference, which marked 50 years since the birth of the environmental movement at the original 1972 Stockholm Conference. Running under the #OnlyOneEarth tagline, the same as the original conference, World Environment Day brought over 65 million people online into global conversations and saw a host of commitments from governments and the private sector – including Sweden banning new licenses for the extraction of coal, oil and natural gas.
Stockholm +50
In June, the Stockholm+50 conference marked 50 years since the birth of the environmental movement at the 1972 UN Conference on the Human Environment. It also brought the world together to accelerate action on the Sustainable Development Goals.
