Biography

Deonne Anderson currently serves as the Public Information Assistant at the UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat, where she supports the development and implementation of strategic communications to enhance the visibility, outreach, and impact of the Secretariat’s programmes and activities across the Wider Caribbean Region.
 
A Jamaican national, Deonne brings experience in strategic communications, policy messaging, and knowledge management within United Nations and intergovernmental contexts. Her work focuses on translating complex environmental and policy processes into clear, accessible narratives, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and supporting advocacy, education, and capacity-building initiatives.
 
She holds a Master’s degree in Communication for Social and Behaviour Change, as well as academic training in communication and media studies. Her professional background bridges communications, education, and development practice, with particular strengths in storytelling, digital media, and behaviour-change approaches.
Prior to her role at the Secretariat, Deonne worked across the public sector, education, and development spaces, contributing to communication initiatives aimed at youth engagement, social impact, and sustainable development. She has supported the development of communication products, campaigns, and outreach materials designed to amplify programme results and align with global and regional policy priorities.
