• Overview

The first Intercity Network on Plastics Circular Economy Meeting, held on 20–21 May 2026 in Panama City, Panama, brought together representatives from member and partner cities across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to strengthen regional collaboration in addressing plastic pollution, including marine plastics.

The meeting advanced the Network’s shared vision of promoting circular economy approaches at the city level by fostering knowledge exchange, aligning common goals, and identifying joint strategies among participating municipalities. It also provided a platform to review progress, discuss priorities under the 2025–2026 Activity Plan, and reinforce coordination among cities and key stakeholders.

The meeting resulted in enhanced cooperation across the Network, agreement on priority actions to accelerate circular solutions for plastic management, strengthened technical and policy alignment among cities, and the identification of clear next steps to scale up impact across the region.
