The Prevention of Marine Litter in the Caribbean Sea (PROMAR) Inception Workshop will convene 14th February - 17th February 2023. PROMAR is financed by the Government of Germany through the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and is managed through a partnership between German NGO adelphi as Lead Implementer and the UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat at Implementing Partner.

The project supports Caribbean countries in addressing the pervasive nature of plastic litter and solid waste management through programmes aimed at creating the policy, legislative and institutional capacity to reduce and manage plastic waste. It is already being implemented in Colombia, Costa Rica and The Dominican Republic and will be implemented in the British Virgin Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Suriname.
