OVERVIEW

From 13 – 14 December 2022, the Regional Eutrophication workshop will be held in Kingston Jamaica. Day 1 will consist of presentations and discussions at the office of the United Nations Environment Programme Cartagena Convention Secretariat, located at 14-20 Port Royal Street, Kingston. Activities on day 2 will involve a field trip to the parish of St. Ann.

The workshop is co-funded by the Government of Sweden and the Global Environment Facility-funded CReW+ project ‘Implementing integrated water and wastewater solutions for a clean and healthy Caribbean Sea.’

OBJECTIVE

The main purpose of the workshop is to facilitate training and professional exchanges of experiences and lessons learnt in the development of National Nutrient Reduction Strategies and Action Plans in Barbados and Jamaica.

These shared experiences will also provide key input for the LBS Regional Activity Centres to develop recommendations for amendments to the Protocol Concerning Pollution from Land-Based Sources and Activities (LBS) to facilitate the adoption of new standards for domestic wastewater discharges.
