SPAW Webinar Series: Protected Areas

Hosted by the UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat —SPAW Protocol Sub-Programme (SPAW) and SPAW Regional Activity Centre (SPAW-RAC) in partnership with the SPAW Consortium

Description and Objectives: The UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat, SPAW-RAC, and partners, including the SPAW Consortium, invite you to an informational webinar with a focus on the SPAW protected areas programme and highlighting:

  • Obligations of Contracting Parties under the SPAW Protocol relating to protected areas; 
  • Status of the SPAW Protocol protected areas programme;
  • The history and process for listing protected areas;
  • Current efforts to connect the networks of protected areas in the Region. 
  • Support for regional stakeholders;

The session will also provide the opportunity to receive feedback from Contracting Parties and civil society organizations regarding the current and future establishment and management of protected areas under the SPAW Protocol.

Format: This webinar will be hosted by the UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat and SPAW-RAC, in collaboration with the SPAW Consortium. Interpretation services will be provided for the three working languages of the Convention: English, Spanish, French.
