Third Meeting of the MPA Networks of the Wider Caribbean Region

The Third Meeting of the MPA Networks of the Wider Caribbean Region will take place on 28 October 2025 in Cartagena, Colombia, alongside the 78th Annual Meeting of the Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute (GCFI). This gathering will unite networks of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) from the Wider Caribbean, along with their partners, to foster dialogue, share experiences, and strengthen regional cooperation in marine and coastal conservation.

Participants will include representatives from regional MPA networks and initiatives such as CaMPAM, SPAW-listed PAs, MPAConnect, NAMPAM, and RedGolfo, as well as national managers, representatives from regional projects like the GoM LME and the PROCARIBE+, technical experts, NGOs, and other organizations.. The meeting aims to highlight recent achievements, address common challenges, and develop joint actions to enhance collaboration, with a focus on coral reef resilience, harmonized management approaches, and new partnership opportunities.

La Tercera Reunión de Redes de Áreas Marinas Protegidas (AMP) de la Región del Gran Caribe se celebrará el 28 de octubre de 2025 en Cartagena, Colombia, en el marco de la 78ª Reunión Anual del Instituto de Pesca del Golfo y el Caribe (GCFI). Este encuentro reunirá a las redes de Áreas Marinas Protegidas (AMP) del Gran Caribe, junto con sus socios, con el propósito de fomentar el diálogo, compartir experiencias y fortalecer la cooperación regional en materia de conservación marina y costera.

Entre los participantes se incluirán representantes de redes e iniciativas regionales de AMP como CaMPAM, las Áreas Protegidas listadas bajo SPAW, MPAConnect, NAMPAM y RedGolfo, así como gestores nacionales, representantes de proyectos regionales como GoM LME y PROCARIBE+, expertos técnicos, ONG y otras organizaciones. La reunión tiene como objetivo destacar los logros recientes, abordar desafíos comunes y desarrollar acciones conjuntas para fortalecer la colaboración, con un enfoque en la resiliencia de los arrecifes de coral, la armonización de los enfoques de manejo y la identificación de nuevas oportunidades de colaboración.
