• Overview
The second Intercity Network on Plastics Circular Economy Meeting, scheduled for 20–21 May 2026 in Panama City, Panama, will convene representatives from member and partner cities across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to strengthen regional collaboration in addressing plastic pollution, including marine plastics

The meeting aims to advance the Network’s shared vision of promoting circular economy approaches at the city level by fostering knowledge exchange, aligning common goals, and identifying joint strategies among participating municipalities. It will also serve as a platform to review progress, discuss priorities under the 2025–2026 Activity Plan, and reinforce coordination among cities and key stakeholders.

Expected outcomes include enhanced cooperation across the Network, agreement on priority actions to accelerate circular solutions for plastic management, strengthened technical and policy alignment among cities, and clear next steps to scale up impact across the region.

The Intercity Network, established under the GEF Circular Cities Beyond Plastics project and supported by UNEP and the Cartagena Convention Secretariat, brings together cities from Colombia, Jamaica, Panama, and other LAC countries to drive collective action and sustainable urban solutions.
