To celebrate World Ocean Day 2026, COBSEA will participate in two key events in Bangkok, organized by UNESCO and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) of Thailand, respectively.
1. UNESCO Event – “Our Ocean, Our Future: Learning to Sustain Our Ocean”
- Date: 8–9 June 2026
- Location: NEXTOPIA, 5th Floor, Siam Paragon, Bangkok
- Organizers: UNESCO, supported by Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., Siam Piwat Company Limited, and UNEP.
This event aims to inspire students and educators in Thailand to deepen their connection to ocean stewardship. COBSEA will be featured in the UNEP exhibition booth, showcasing regional initiatives for marine and coastal ecosystem protection. COBSEA will also launch a new video on Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) during this event.
2. DMCR Event – “REIMAGINE: Rethinking the Ocean for a Sustainable World”
- Date: 8–10 June 2026
- Location: Block I, Siam Square, Bangkok
- Organizer: Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand.
COBSEA will participate in this DMCR event with an exhibition booth and a speaking session. The speaking session will take place from 4:30 pm to 4:50 pm on 9 June, which will include an introduction to COBSEA’s work followed by an interactive quiz for participants. The exhibition will take place over three days 8-10 June 2026 where COBSEA will display its banners highlighting work on marine and coastal ecosystems, as well as nutrients management.
