The official side event recording is available here.

This  official side event held during the 2025 meetings of the Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (2025 BRS COPs) explored the critical question: As the digital world evolves rapidly, are we effectively leveraging these advancements to help governments fulfill their commitments to chemical and waste-related SDGs while staying context-sensitive and aligned with national priorities?

The event showcased how the InforMEA Goals section  visualizes the contributions of Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) to the SDGs, strengthening policy coherence. It also identified key data gaps in tracking SDG progress in chemicals and waste governance and discussed strategies to improve data collection and availability.

Participants engaged in meaningful dialogue on how policymakers can enhance reporting, policy alignment, and collaboration using digital tools and legal frameworks. The event also highlighted how MEAs play a pivotal role in accelerating progress toward achieving chemicals and waste-related SDGs by 2030, using available data on InforMEA.

The session was organized  by the InforMEA Initiative coordinated by UNEP and was open to all registered delegates participating at the official meetings of the BRS COP.
