                                                             Eighth GEF Assembly | 30 May - 6 Jun 2026 | Samarkand, Uzbekistan 

The GEF Assembly is the highest governing body of the GEF, composed of 186 member countries and meets once every four years. 

Building on the momentum of previous gatherings, the Assembly will bring together ministers, heads of international organizations, business leaders, civil-society advocates, Indigenous Peoples, women, and youth from the GEF’s 186 member countries to chart an accelerated path toward global environmental goals. 

GEF Council meetings are scheduled from May 31 to June 3.

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) includes several multilateral funds working together to address the planet's most pressing challenges in an integrated way. Over the past three decades, the GEF has provided more than $26 billion in financing, primarily as grants, and mobilized another $148 billion for country-driven priority projects.
