Julien Lheureux

Task Manager for Africa


Biography

Julien is responsible for UNEP’s mitigation and transparency portfolio of GEF-funded projects in Africa, worth over US$ 50 million in grants.  

 He oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of more than 35 national projects across 25+ countries in areas such as sustainable urban development, energy efficiency, net-zero decarbonization, methane & food waste, low-carbon mobility, climate finance and climate transparency.  

 Julien has more than 17 years of project management experience in the energy and environment sectors. He has worked across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, both in international organizations and in the private sector.  

 Julien is a French national. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and Urban Development, as well as a Master’s in Public Affairs.
