Biography

Robert is a Task Manager overseeing a portfolio of projects in Latin America with the Biodiversity and Land Degradation GEF Unit in the Ecosystems Division at UNEP.

Prior to joining the UNEP-GEF team in Panama in 2008 he was active as a consultant for project design, implementation and M&E with a number of UN agencies including UNOPS, IFAD, and UNDP for eight years.
His academic qualifications include a MSc in Agriculture with a specialization in irrigation system design and management from the California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, CA, USA. His undergraduate degree was in agriculture science at the Universität für Bodenkultur in Vienna, Austria.

In addition, he has thirteen years prior experience at technical and managerial levels in agricultural and livestock production in the private sector in Latin America, emphasizing appropriate technologies and environmentally sustainable practices. He also has several years’ experience working with conservation and sustainable agriculture development with international and local NGOs.
