Hyder Matano provides dedicated financial and administrative support to the African portfolio within the Climate Change Mitigation Unit, playing a key role in the effective delivery and coordination of programme activities under the GEF Portfolio.
He contributes to core functions including financial management, project implementation support, and administrative coordination, ensuring efficiency and consistency across portfolio operations. His proactive approach and attention to detail strengthen the unit’s ability to deliver results across diverse country contexts.
Hyder joined UNEP in November 2025 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Strathmore University. He is fluent in both English and French, enabling him to effectively support stakeholders across the African region.
Hyder is a Kenyan national.
