Jonas supports the GEF Coordination with the overall management and implementation of the GEF Policy on Environmental and Social Safeguards, as well as UNEP's Environment, Social and Sustainability Framework (ESSF).
Jonas is a Swedish national and passionate environmentalist with a career in INGOs. He has worked in several regions in the southern hemisphere, including the South Pacific, South and Southeast Asia, and, since 2018, East Africa (Tanzania). His expertise includes safeguarding, gender, Human Rights, and project management in organisations focusing on natural resource management and conservation, such as WWF and RECOFTC. He holds a BSc in International Social Science and an MSc in Development Studies from Uppsala University.
