Sumayya is responsible for the development and implementation of part of UNEP's portfolio of GEF mitigation projects in East Africa. Thematic areas include electric mobility, net-zero nature-positive accelerator, climate transparency, sustainable cities and energy efficiency.
She has over 10 years of professional experience across international organizations, where she held roles such as Portfolio Manager, Project Officer and Programme Assistant. Before joining UNEP, she worked at UNDP Mauritius and Seychelles Country Office leading the implementation and oversight of climate and biodiversity projects.
Sumayya is a national of Mauritius and holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering.
