To enable country Parties to establish sound reporting and monitoring systems to report against the UNCCD Strategy

The project aims to capitalize on a growing baseline of knowledge on marine plastics sources, pathways and environmental impacts to inform the development of the GEF 7 Strategy and the application of a systemic approach to global plastic issues

To apply methodologies and approaches for carbon accounting and ecosystem service valuation in Blue Forests so as to provide evidence-based experience that supports replication, up-scaling and adoption of Blue Forests concepts by the international community and the GEF.

Increased quantity and improved quality of information available for the review of implementation of the Convention

To aasist countries to review and update the National Implementation Plan (NIP) in order to comply with reporting obligations (Article 15) and updating of National Implementation Plans (Artcile 7) under the Stockholm Convention

As an overall contribution to the achievement of the Aichi Biodiversity Target 17 at the global level, to provide technical support to all eligible countries accessing GEF Biodiversity Enabling Activities funding, with a view to improving the quality benchmark and policy relevance of the next generation of NBSAPs, while also enhancing public participation in the NBSAP preparation process

To assist 40 countries accede to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing

Enable GEF eligible CBD parties to assess progress towards the achievement of the 2010 Biodiversity Targets at national level through a country-wide, stakeholder consultation process and to appropriately report and communicate on it.

To Assist GEF-Eligible Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to prepare and make timely submission of their Second National Reports on measures that each party has taken to implement the Protocol in line with Article 33

Global Foundations for reducing nutrient enrichment and oxygen depletion form land based pollution in support of global nutrient cycle

To provide support for the preparation of NCs to the UNFCCC, which comply with Convention reporting requirements and national development needs in 50 Non-Annex Parties.

With the overarching goal of improving decision-making for the conservation of global biodiversity, the main objective of this project is to enable GEF eligible CBD Parties to assess progress towards the achievement of the 2010 Biodiversity Targets at the national level and to develop the Fourth National Report to the CBD.

The programme’s overall goal is to provide an integrated package of flexible support activities to facilitate implementation of enabling activities. By doing so, it will assist countries in promoting integration of climate change policy into countries’ national development priorities, on the basis of national needs and priorities. The programme emphasises capacity building, knowledge sharing and monitoring of programme progress.
