Event Report: Hankyu Department and Osaka City Study Session

 UNEP-IETC officer participated as a lecturer in the following two events held at Hankyu Department Store:

  1. Dream Town Challenge Team Workshop "Let's Think about the Future of the Earth through Recycled Art!

In the workshop in which UNEP staff participated this time, participants not only made recycled art with waste, but also learned about the current state of waste in the world and its relationship with animals through videos and quizzes. Under the guidance of the artist Minami Shibata, each participant created his or her own artwork using unused items brought from home. At the end of the workshop, they shared their thoughts and ideas about the future of the earth by presenting their own works of art.

  1. HANKYU Children's College "School of Wildlife"  2-Day Special Class

UNEP staff members participated in a talk session with Kawa-chan, a fish expert, at Hankyu Department Store. Under the theme "Let's protect biodiversity from waste pollution", he gave a lecture on the impact of waste on living creatures. About 100 people attended the session, where we talked about the facts of the global waste issues. The Environmental Action Challenge Sheet distributed at the event can be downloaded from here.

     3.  Osaka Children's City Council (Junior High School Students' City Council) Study Session "Let's Think about Environmental Initiatives to Promote the SDGs" 

The study session was held at Naniwa Eco Square, an environmental learning facility, for 20 junior high school students in Osaka City,
Based on the theme of the study session, UNEP staff members gave a lecture on "SDG initiatives and reducing plastic waste". The lecture included an introduction to UNEP-IETC, global waste issues, videos, and quizzes, followed by a question-and-answer session.
