This assessment identifies hot spots of oil spill incidents in the NOWPAP region by collecting information on historic spill records, vessel traffic and sources of oil pollution, and conducting statistical analysis using the collected information.
Implementation of NOWPAP contributes to the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities (GPA) in the Northwest Pacific region.
