NOWPAP's activities on biodiversity

2018

  • The NOWPAP Special Monitoring and Coastal Environmental Assessment Regional Activity Center’s (CEARAC) Assessment of major pressures on marine biodiversity in the NOWPAP Region found a worsening of major environmental pressures linked to the rapid economic growth in the region. A major factor is the rapid growth of aquaculture in the region with a strong impact on marine biodiversity.
  • NOWPAP CEARAC published a report on the technical feasibility of assessing the regional distribution of ‘blue carbon’ sinks – seagrass beds.
