This meeting will bring together National Ozone Officers from Europe & Central Asia and West Asia regions to share experiences and good practices as well as the latest technical and policy developments under the Montreal Protocol, particularly following the entry into force of the Kigali Amendment.

This workshop comes within the framework of Ex-Com approved project “Twinning of Ozone Officers and National Energy-Efficiency Policymakers to Support Kigali Amendment Objectives” which, based on the needs of Article 5 countries, aims to increase the climate benefits of the Montreal Protocol refrigerant transition by maximizing a simultaneous improvement in the energy efficiency of the cooling sector through enhanced policy and programmatic coordination at the national and regional levels.

The main objective of the Thematic workshop on KIP preparation is an orientation and capacity building for National Ozone Officers (NOO) and national experts from the Africa Francophone region. The workshop will provide national Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) experts an opportunity for training, exchange of expertise, information sharing, capacity building to collect data, utilize OzonAction tools, and design Kigali HFC Implementation Plans (KIPs) projects in the Region.
The purpose of this training is to build the capacity of the National Ozone Unit (NOU) staff, provide them with the needed information, knowledge, skills, key techniques, and contacts to manage projects and ensure the effectiveness of their NOUs as well as their contribution to the fulfillment of their countries' obligations under the Montreal Protocol and its amendments.
