At this Network Meeting, UNEP will support Latin American countries with their HFCs phase-down and HCFC phase-out targets in 2024 and 2025 respectively. The Meeting will focus on data reporting, policy frameworks, progress in the implementation of the HPMPs and KIPs, as well as in the challenges faced by the countries in the region with the compliance targets for HCFCs and HFCs and exploring strategies to address them.

We are pleased to inform you that the Ozone Secretariat, World Customs Organization, Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions, and UNEP OzonAction are co-organizing a side-event on Interlinkages between the BRS conventions and the Montreal Protocol: policy, implementation and enforcement. This side-event will be held on 1 May, 1h15 hours - 2h45 CET (Geneva time) at the BRS COPs.
To address the challenge countries are facing with data collection, OzonAction has developed a KIP preparation kit - a checklist and a series of questionnaires for experts and NOUs to use in data collection. Other OzonAction tools and products can be used in KIP preparation and implementation.
The overall objective of this network meeting is to facilitate the network countries to share experiences/good practices in various areas under the Montreal Protocol to strengthen capacity of the National Ozone Officers to sustain compliance with obligations under the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment e.g. to achieve 2 parallel obligations including 67.5% reduction in HCFC consumption and freezing HFC consumption in 2025.
