Members of the staff as well as family and friends of the UN Environment / Mediterranean Action Plan Coordinating Unit participated in the 35th edition of the Athens Marathon. The team dressed in UN Environment / MAP-branded gear to raise awareness of the environmental conservation efforts in the Mediterranean while achieving their running goals at the finish lines of the 10 km and 5 km races.
The “Athens Marathon. The Authentic” is one of the most significant sport, cultural, and social events hosted in the city of Athens. The impressive event with 121 years of history is the outcome of participation and collective effort. Over 51 000 runners supported by organizers of the public and private sector as well as 3 000 volunteers participated in this event that gives back to the community through its charity and sponsor initiatives.
