Second Meeting of the Joint Sub-regional expert group on the Pilot Study for the Eastern Mediterranean for non-indigenous species

The UN Environment/Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) and General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) organized the Second Meeting of the Joint Sub-regional expert group on the Pilot Study for the Eastern Mediterranean for non-indigenous species, in Chania, Greece on 4 March.

The meeting gathered participants from all the Eastern Mediterranean countries involved in the study: Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, and Turkey. They agreed on a draft sub-regional monitoring plan for non-indigenous species. The monitoring plan, which is coherent with the MAP Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme (IMAP) and the GFCM Data Collection Reference Framework (DCRF), will be submitted to the governing bodies of the respective organizations for endorsement.
