Leveraging partnerships for lasting impact

Why partner with us?

UNEP’s comparative advantage on climate change lies in its broad role regarding environmental issues within the UN system. The organization brings over 30 years of experience in climate change issues, a long-term, systemic, and comprehensive approach to climate change adaptation that differs materially from that of other actors in that it is linked, where possible, to other environmental concerns of countries such as air pollution and biodiversity. UNEP also focuses on linking the science of climate change to policy in a manner that makes it distinctive.

UNEP is a founding partner of both the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Global Environment Facility. Its flagship reports, such as the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) series and the Adaptation Gap Report  have played a critical role to support evidence-based adaptation planning and decision-making.

UNEP brings together local, national, regional and international stakeholders to address key challenges and advance adaptation efforts through the Global Adaptation Network (GAN), which was established in 2010 to share adaptation knowledge and expertise to encourage action.
