This meeting is part of the activities of UNEP OzonAction's Regional Montreal Protocol Network for Europe and Central Asia (ECA network). Invited experts present potential interlinkages and synergies between the Kigali Amendment and the Paris Agreement which both aim to limit global warming. The phase-down of HFCs under the Kigali Amendment should be reflected in national climate strategies and be considered in the context of national determined contributions (NDCs). Beside the invited experts, participants include Article 5 and associated CEIT countries, bilateral partners and partner agencies. The agenda items include:

1)    Welcome and introduction – Mr. Halvart Koeppen, UNEP OzonAction

2)    Overview of the Paris Agreement – Ms. Irina Ghaplanyan, Deputy Minister of Environment, Armenia

3)    Interlinkages between Kigali Amendment, Paris Agreement and sustainable development goals (national cooling strategies / sustainable cooling, national determined contributions, financing mechanisms, labelling and market transformation) – Ms. Souhir Hammami and Mr. Marco Duran, UNEP Global Climate Action / United for Efficiency

4)    Short country presentations (5-10 min. maximum) on interlinkages between Kigali Amendment and Paris Agreement, national climate, energy or XX strategies, contribution of HFC phase-down to national determined contributions and follow-up actions related to the K-CEP twinning workshops with Montreal Protocol officers and energy policy-policy makers in 2018 and 2019:
