This year, the annual congress and exhibition of the Serbian refrigeration association SMEITS / KGH goes virtual. It is the only international HVAC&R congress and HK handshake with participantexhibition which has been organized in an Article 5 country for over 50 years. And it is the first virtual congress and exhibition of its kind being organized in an Article 5 country in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region. This is not surprising, as Serbia was among the countries which founded the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) in 1908 – more than a century ago. Thus, Serbia has a strong and long-standing tradition of promoting this important and growing sector. In 2019, SMEITS / KGH awarded UNEP for the longstanding support and cooperation provided. The congress opening addresses go online on Tuesday, 1 December 2020 at 18:00 Belgrade / CET time (see link in the SMEITS / KGH message below).

This year, the exhibition booth will be virtual. Montreal Protocol related publications, materials and videos of the Ministry, UNEP OzonAction and their partner organizations are included in the “Virtual Bag” which is available at the “Info Desk”. Live chat with staff of the Ministry and UNEP OzonAction will be available each day of the congress. Both activities, the technology roundtable and the exhibition booth, are part of Serbia’s HFCFC phase-out management plan and aim to raise awareness on alternative technologies. They are part of the services provided by OzonActions’s Regional Montreal Protocol Network for Europe and Central Asia (ECA network) and financed by the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol.
