Panamá, 28 de abril de 2023 - La esperanza de un planeta limpio y la crisis climática cruzan las más de 300 obras de América Latina y el Caribe que participaron en el concurso de arte “El Planeta es tu Lienzo”, organizado por el Programa Acción Ozono de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA), y que se desarrolló entre octubre de 2022 y marzo de 2023.
El objetivo de este concurso fue concientizar sobre la importancia de la protección de la capa de ozono y dar a conocer la Enmienda de Kigali al Protocolo de Montreal, un acuerdo global para reducir el uso de hidrofluorocarbonos (HFC), sustancias con un alto potencial de calentamiento global.
El concurso se desarrolló en cuatro categorías: ilustración digital, dibujo y pintura, fotografía y video. Los ganadores de cada categoría son:
Ilustración digital:
- 1er lugar "Mi Ozono" (Danna Torrejón, México)
- 2do lugar "Off" (Camila Alemany, Brasil)
- 3er lugar "Heroes Wanted" (Kirnan John, Santa Lucía/Ecuador)
- 4to lugar “Juntos Salvemos el Planeta” (Norkelly Acosta/Republica Dominicana)
Dibujo y pintura:
- 1er lugar "Respiro Profundo" (Noelia Vinueza, Ecuador)
- 2do lugar "No gender boundaries" (Kirsten-Jade Rampersad, Trinidad & Tobago)
- 3er lugar "¿Somos la raza más inteligente o somos plaga?" (Juan Carlos Azcona, República Dominicana)
- 4to lugar "Mar de Plástico" (Andrés Bello, Venezuela)

El jurado estuvo compuesto por destacados artistas y expertas de El Salvador, México, Panamá y Venezuela. Este grupo estuvo encargado de seleccionar las 64 obras (de todas las categorías) que fueron sometidas a una votación del público, a través de la cual, habitantes de toda la región pudieron entregar su apoyo a sus trabajos favoritos. En total se recibieron más de 2.000 votos.
Aun cuando el voto del público representó el 20% del porcentaje final de selección, el jurado tomó muy en cuenta esta participación y hubo coincidencias en varias categorías.
El primer lugar de cada categoría recibirá como premio un viaje a Panamá para asistir a una serie de jornadas creativas y de capacitación, además de visitar diferentes exposiciones de arte, parques naturales y otras actividades preparadas por el equipo del Programa Acción Ozono. La ceremonia de premiación se llevará a cabo en septiembre de 2023 con motivo del Día Mundial para la Protección de la Capa de Ozono.

We announce the winners of the art contest "The planet is your canvas!”
Panama, April 28, 2023 - The hope of a clean planet and the climate crisis cross the more than 300 works from Latin America and the Caribbean that participated in the art contest "The Planet is your Canvas", organized by the OzonAction Branch of the United Nations Environment (UNEP), and which took place between October 2022 and March 2023.
The objective of this contest was to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the ozone layer and publicize the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, a global agreement to reduce the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), substances with a high global warming potential.
The contest was developed in four categories: digital illustration, drawing and painting, photography and video. The winners of each category are:
Digital illustration:
1. 1st place "Mi Ozono" (Danna Torrejón, Mexico)
2. 2nd place "Off" (Camila Alemany, Brazil)
3. 3rd place "Heroes Wanted" (Kirnan John, Saint Lucia/Ecuador)
4. 4th place "Together Let's Save the Planet" (Norkelly Acosta/Dominican Republic)

The jury was composed of prominent artists and experts from El Salvador, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela. This group was in charge of selecting the 64 works (of all categories) that were submitted to a public vote, through which inhabitants of the entire region could give their support to their favorite works. In total, more than 2,000 votes were received.
Although the public vote represented 20% of the final percentage of selection, the jury took this participation into account and there were coincidences in several categories.
The first place in each category will receive as a prize a trip to Panama to attend a series of creative and training days, in addition to visiting different art exhibitions, natural parks and other activities prepared by the OzonAction Branch. The award ceremony will be held in September 2023 on the occasion of World Ozone Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer.
