Since 2016, the UN Environment Programme Caribbean Sub-Regional Office, located in Kingston Jamaica has sought to improve its relevance in the Caribbean, bring the services of the global UN Environment Programme closer to the Caribbean and assist countries to achieve environmental sustainability as a part of the global 2030 Agenda.
The Secretariat of the Basel Convention will be hosting a webinar as a follow up on the first meeting of its Plastic Waste Partnership Working Group that was held from 2nd to 5th March 2020 in Seychelles. As a member of this Working Group, the Cartagena Convention Secretariat was represented at this meeting which successfully concluded with agreements on several items, notably the establishment of project groups and consensus on activities that will be implemented by each project group.
The webinar will be held on the following dates:
OBJECTIVE: To orient new and existing users on how to access, use and update the Caribbean Marine Protected Area Management (CaMPAM) geospatial database.
TARGET AUDIENCES: Managers of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Caribbean region, marine spatial planners, researchers and the members of the MPA community in general.
An introduction to the main obstacles for efficient and sustainable growth presented by biofouling in the marine aquaculture industry. The webinar will highlight the key impacts, and the different antifouling methods in use for the prevention and control of biofouling on finfish, seaweed and shellfish aquaculture.
