The GEF, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Energy Agency (IEA) and UNEP will be organizing a side event on “Accelerating the shift to Electric Mobility: A new GEF supported Global Electric Mobility Programme” at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP). The side event will take place on the 10th of November from 11:00-12:00 GMT+0. The purpose of the side event is to introduce the Global Electric Mobility Programme and provide an interactive space, where partner countries, private sector and finance organizations will share their experience and challenges in mainstreaming e-mobility and explore how to leverage the Global Electric Mobility Programme to accelerate the zero-emission vehicle transition to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.

The Global Electric Mobility Programme is funded by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), the European Union, the German Climate Initiative, the FIA Foundation and anthroposophical foundations and bilateral development aid. Altogether, the Global Electric Mobility Programme is supporting more than 50 countries worldwide to build capacity, develop e-mobility strategies and roadmaps, establish e-mobility policy frameworks, create business models and financing schemes, prepare for environmental sustainability of electric mobility – and to pilot electric vehicles on the ground.
