2022 UN Ocean Conference Side Event (Event ID: IBZM2709). Event link here.

The development of the Blue Economy depends on a healthy ocean that is free from plastic pollution, which requires urgent and effective action, as reflected by the international community’s decision to negotiate, by 2024, a legally binding international instrument to end plastic pollution.

This panel discussion session organized by the United Nations Environment Programme, The World Bank, World Economic Forum, OECD, the Government of the UK, the Government of Chile, Plastic Oceans International, Ocean Plastics Leadership Network, and Searious Business will bring together diverse stakeholders from governments, private sector, civil society and key actors involved in this international process. Global and national plastic action communities will explore existing solutions and policy interventions that can be deployed to support countries to deliver ambitious action and identify their sustainable, long-term financing needs while actively engaging with civil society.
