Emergency Action: Strengthening African elephant conservation efforts amidst the Covid-19 pandemic

The African Elephant Fund (AEF) will host an event in the margins of the upcoming Nineteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES COP 19) taking place on 14 – 25 November 2022, Panama City, Panama.

The purpose of the event is to showcase the responses of the African elephant range States to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic to elephant conservation. It will provide a platform for a range of States to share their experiences, successes, and lessons learned with the wider wildlife stakeholder community. The event will also facilitate discussions on the status of elephant conservation in Africa and what is required to sustain these efforts.
