About the event
In the lead-up to the Conference of the Parties 31 (COP31) and with Fiji playing a central role in the 64th Session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB64) and upcoming Small Island Developing States (SIDS) focused Pre-Conference of the Parties (Pre-COP), present prime opportunities for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and implementing agencies to align in amplifying the call for rapid and tailored technical assistance and finance for implementation of climate action.
This event advances the Key Recommendations from the Regional Forum for Practitioners in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) on Advancing Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Implementation Readiness, held in Mauritius in February 2026, and jointly develops a strategic message on the specific needs of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) for future negotiations. During this event, country representatives will review and further develop the Forum's Key Recommendations while discussing key barriers and opportunities for SIDS to scale climate action and increase resilience building. Furthermore, selected SIDS and implementing partners will share their ongoing work to enhance implementation readiness and develop synergies across regions.
The event will take the opportunity to discuss how the different available tools and support programmes align with each other and explore strategies for achieving critical masses for regional collaboration among SIDS for new support programmes.
