• Overview

The Expert Consultation Process on Freedom of Religion or Belief, Gender Equality and the Sustainable Development Goals is an explorative process that seeks to analyse the relationship, and identify positive synergies, between freedom of religion or belief and gender equality. The analysis of this relationship is anchored within the SDG framework, considering it as a cross-cutting concern of relevance to all SDGs and exploring the different ways in which it plays out in relation to key SDG themes, including education, conflict prevention/inclusive societies, health and well-being, and climate. The process involves a diverse range of actors, who will meet up for thematic workshops throughout the year. A report, including a catalogue of possible future actions, will be produced.

The report of the consultation meeting that took place in October 2019 in Denmark, will be presented by the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief.  For this purpose, the Norwegian and Danish FORB ambassadors will hold an event in Geneva 4 March 2020. Faith for Earth will be presenting the part on Climate Change and FoRB while other partner partners will be presenting on Gender and Health.
