At COP28, the Green Jobs for Youth Pact is putting young people front and center of the green transformation. A collaborative effort by the International Labour Organization (ILO), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Green Jobs for Youth Pact is hosting a series of events focusing on amplifying youth voices in crucial discussions around climate change, just transition and green jobs.

1. December 2nd, 2023 | 10:30-11:20 | Climate Café – Climate Anxiety and Resilience in Youth

 Location: Just Transition Pavilion (Thematic Arena 3—Pavillion 325)

With 70% of young people being eco-anxious, climate cafés can serve as safe spaces for young people to connect, collaborate, and build community. Join us for a Climate Café facilitated by Gunjan Nanda of the Dubai Climate Collective to get in touch with your own climate emotions and connect with others to turn these feelings into action.

2. December 5TH | 18:00-18:50  | From Classrooms to Conservation: Greening Education for Climate Action

Location: Greening Education Pavilion 

Here is your chance to sensitize decision-makers about why it’s important to prioritize and invest in environmental education for a sustainable future. Identify challenges, share best practices, and inspire commitments to nurture eco-consciousness among students. Join us to champion environmental education.

3. December 6th, 2023 | 09:30-10:20 | A Just Transition: With and For Youth

Location: Just Transition Pavilion (Thematic Arena 3—Pavillion 325)

The new resolution on just transition adopted at the summer 2023 International Labour Conference calls for consultation with affected communities, in particular youth. Join us in this interactive session to hear first-hand from young people about their perspectives on engaging in just transition processes around the world.

4. December 6th, 2023 | 13:30–14:30 | Accelerating Public-Private-Youth-Partnerships: How the Private Sector Can Create More, Better, and Greener Jobs for Young People

Location: IOE Employers and Green Skills Pavilion Thematic Arena 3—Pavillion 160

In 2023, over half the world will be under 30, with young people globally prioritizing climate action. They face unemployment, yet the green transition could generate 8.4 million jobs for them by 2030. Join us to explore how collaborative efforts between the public, private, and youth sectors can drive a green transition for mutual benefit—nurturing the planet, empowering the youth, and boosting business.

5. December 8th, 2023 | Whole Day Career Fair 

Location: Green Zone

Join the Green Skills Fair at COP28 to explore green job opportunities and prep for the future! Geared towards university students, this event offers immersive experiences at interactive booths hosted by leading organizations. Dive into discussions on hiring trends and essential skills in the sustainability sector. UNICEF's Generation Unlimited will be there to onboard companies and help you prepare for the future with resources from Green Jobs for Youth Pact partners.

6. December 9th, 2023 | 18:00–18:50 | Labour of Love: Poetry Slam on People and Planet 

Location: Just Transition Pavilion (Thematic Arena 3—Pavillion 325)

Step into an evening fueled by creativity and connection! Join our open-mic event where young artists, activists, and negotiators share their talents on the stage. Whether it's through comedy, music, or poetry, channel your passion for the most pressing issues of our time: climate change, labour challenges, and their societal impact. Your voice matters—this is your chance to make it heard in a captivating and engaging way!
