UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC) is a research and advisory branch of the UNEP’s Climate Change Division focused on energy, climate, and sustainable development. Building on many years of experience with providing capacity building and transparency for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), UNEP-CCC is setting up a new database and platform to deepen stakeholders’ understanding of international cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement: The Article 6 Pipeline.
The Article 6 Pipeline captures a wide range of activities and contextual information to review and promote Paris-aligned climate ambition, integrity, and holistic sustainability. Its goal is to provide accessible overviews for a wide audience as well as deep dives for experts, with an emphasis on how carbon market cooperation affects countries’ climate targets (NDCs) and sustainable development (SDGs).
At the SB 62 Meetings in Bonn, UNEP-CCC aims to showcase how the new platform will build capacities in countries to successfully cooperate under Article 6. Providing access to clear, comprehensive, and contextual information on market-based cooperation will help stakeholders to prepare for and better understand the impacts of engaging in Article 6.
