About the event

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face some of the most severe and accelerating impacts of climate change, ranging from rising sea levels and intensifying storm surges to urban heat stress and the erosion of coastal ecosystems that communities have depended on for generations.

Nature-based Solutions (NbS) offer a proven, cost-effective pathway for responding to those accelerating climate impacts while simultaneously offering co-benefits to communities. Yet, despite their demonstrated value, NbS remain underrepresented in National Adaptation Plans (NAP), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), and climate finance flows.

This side event brings together government representatives, scientists, finance specialists, and private sector innovators to examine what it will take to change that. Drawing on concrete country experiences and emerging financing models, speakers will explore how SIDS can accelerate NbS implementation, embed these approaches in national planning, and unlock the transformative potential of nature finance.
