• Overview

UNEP will participate in Ecosperity Week 2026 in Singapore, engaging governments, investors, financial institutions and corporate buyers on the future of high-integrity carbon markets and the role of nature-based solutions in climate mitigation portfolios.

Across a series of events during Ecosperity Week and Innovate4Climate, UNEP will convene discussions on scaling nature-based solutions (NbS), strengthening carbon market integrity, mobilizing investment into forest and land-use mitigation, and advancing practical implementation pathways under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

A major highlight will be the flagship GenZero Climate Summit event, “Nature. Markets. Scale.”, which will assess where nature markets stand in 2026 and what is needed to unlock credible scale across voluntary and emerging compliance systems. The event will bring together senior government officials, investors, financial institutions, standards bodies, project developers and corporate buyers to discuss REDD+, jurisdictional approaches, integrity frameworks and scalable financing models.

Martin Krause, Director of UNEP’s Climate Change Division, will open the event with remarks on the importance of diversified mitigation portfolios and the growing role of nature-based solutions in climate finance. Gabriel Labbate, Head of UNEP’s Nature and Markets-based Solutions Section and Team Leader of the UN-REDD Programme, will deliver the keynote presentation on the state of nature markets and future trends.

UNEP will also co-organize two Innovate4Climate side events focused on practical implementation challenges and opportunities for high-integrity forest carbon markets and ASEAN nature finance cooperation.
