UNEP - UNCT Western Balkans technical dialogue for a strengthened UN response on pollution

Objective

The objective of the technical dialogue is to assist the UN in the Western Balkans to mainstream de-pollution into the UNSDCFs, to build upon Six Transitions: Investment Pathways to Deliver the SDGs and discuss joint inter agency programming and collaboration.

The technical dialogue endeavours to foster regional technical cooperation and partnerships among UNCTs, aligning efforts to address pollution, thus reinforcing in country and regional environmental resilience and advancing the sustainability agenda.

This dialogue is aimed at showcasing UNCTs and UNEP’s responses and joint actions to the triple planetary crisis with a specific focus on the sub-programme chemical and pollution action and its related outcomes at global, regional and national level, and especially to identify further needs and constraints in addressing chemical and pollution issues in the Western Balkan region.

• Understanding of UNEP’s strategic priorities regarding chemicals and pollution action
• Strengthened mainstreaming of de-pollution into the UNSDCFs and joint inter agency programming and collaboration.
• Understand and follow up on the Transitions for Systemic Impact (Six Transitions: Investment Pathways to Deliver the SDGs)– Engine rooms
• Identified key pollution priorities and a way forward in strengthening chemical and pollution action in the WB region, through joint cooperation and dialogue with the UN at the country level.
