About the event

National response systems for Loss and Damage are receiving increased international attention as countries seek to strengthen governance, finance, coordination, and institutional capacity to respond to climate-related impacts. Dedicated support is now emerging through the Santiago Network for Loss and Damage, the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage, and a growing ecosystem of technical assistance providers.

Co-hosted by Germanwatch, the United Nations University – Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), and the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) during the sixtieth sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB64) in Bonn, this workshop will provide a dedicated platform for developing countries, civil society organizations, international organizations and Loss and Damage institutions to exchange experiences and lessons learned on strengthening national response systems.

The workshop will explore governance arrangements, access to finance, technical and institutional capacity-building, and coordination across national, local and international actors. Discussions will also contribute to a forthcoming technical output under the Warsaw International Mechanism Technical Expert Group on Comprehensive Risk Management. Participants can expect interactive exchanges, country experiences, technical presentations and networking opportunities with practitioners and support providers working on Loss and Damage responses.
