Background:

The digital transformation of urban transport is no longer a future concept—it's a present-day necessity for creating sustainable cities. By leveraging data, smart platforms, and digital payments, cities can significantly reduce congestion, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and make public transport more inclusive and accessible.

However, this transition comes with challenges, including data privacy, cybersecurity, and the need for adaptable regulatory frameworks.

This webinar, organized under the Sustainable Mobility Community of Practice  ACCESS Digitalization of Transport Thematic Working Group, together with SoMoS LAC , addresses these challenges head-on by facilitating a crucial exchange of knowledge and proven strategies from the front lines of transport digitalization.

The session will highlight work supported by the Global Electric Mobility Programmeand its Regional Support and Investment Platform, demonstrating how pilot projects generate valuable data that can be replicated and scaled across the region to inform effective public policy.

Objectives:

  • To analyze the critical role of data monitoring in planning, operating, and evaluating sustainable mobility systems.
  • To present methodologies for measuring key operational, financial, and environmental indicators in transport projects.
  • To share concrete lessons from Chile, including the first-ever monitoring of electric taxis in operation and the large-scale implementation of a unified electronic payment system.
  • To identify success factors and common challenges for scaling digital mobility solutions across Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • To foster knowledge exchange among key stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of integrated digital solutions.

Agenda Highlights:

  • Data for Decision-Making: How the Sustainable Mobility Centre (CMS) uses data to measure key mobility indicators.
  • E-Mobility in Action: Results from the Energy Sustainability Agency's (AgenciaSE) groundbreaking monitoring of Chile's electric taxi fleet.
  • The Digital Payment Revolution: Lessons learned by Santiago's Metropolitan Public Transport Directorate (DTPM) from implementing the unified electronic payment system in Red Movilidad
  • Live Q&A: An interactive session for audience questions and discussion.
