First e-briefing for the Nitrogen Working Group of the United Nations Environment Programme

The Fourth session of the UN Environment Assembly of the UN Environment Programme took place on 11 - 15 March 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya under the overall theme of ‘Innovative Solutions for Environmental Challenges and Sustainable Consumption and Production’. As an outcome, UNEA adopted the Sustainable Nitrogen Management Resolution led by the Government of India.

The first e-briefing is the first of its kind, building on the progress made during the historic signing of the Colombo Declaration in October 2019 as part of the Launch of the Global Campaign on Sustainable Nitrogen Management in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The e-briefing also follows the adoption of the Resolution on Sustainable Nitrogen Management.

Following the adoption of the Resolution on Sustainable Nitrogen Management, UNEP invited Member States to nominate focal points for a Working Group on implementation of the UNEA4 resolution.
