A draft Gender Action Plan (GAP) has been developed under the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC) for consideration at the first International Conference (Resolution V/4). Its aim is to ensure gender equality is systematically integrated into chemicals and waste management.
The Framework’s GAP was submitted for review at the Open-Ended Working Group meeting in June 2025. Read the information document UNEP/GFC/OEWG.1/INF/6 - Development of a Gender Action Plan: Integration and review of existing information.
Based on the feedback received from the Open-Ended Working Group meeting, the framework’s draft GAP has been revised. The latest draft of the Gender Action Plan is available here.
The GFC Secretariat, in collaboration with partners, convened a one-hour webinar to present the draft GAP, review the consultations and process that informed its development, and initiate a pilot exercise to collect data from stakeholders on progress made since 2023. This session will also provide information on opportunities to advance gender mainstreaming across GFC implementation in preparation for the first International Conference of the GFC, scheduled for 16–20 November 2026 in Geneva.
The session took place online 12 February, 15.00 - 16.00 CET.
