Experts joining the panel of this event will explore and promote innovative approaches, policies, and collaborative initiatives that contribute to preventing and mitigating pharmaceutical pollution, with a focus on advancing green and sustainable chemistry for the design and production of pharmaceuticals. They will also discuss how we can strengthen sustainable procurement practices to foster environmentally responsible supply chains, and showcase multi-stakeholder initiatives that offer scalable and effective solutions to reduce pharmaceutical residues in the environment.
The event is part of a series of events co-organized by the United Nations Environment Programme in cooperation with the World Health Organization, the Geneva Environment Network, and other key partners, aiming to raise awareness and share best practices, challenges and opportunities to address pharmaceuticals release into the environment.
