• Overview

The international UN meeting “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity” will take place from 2-3 June 2022, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1972 UN Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.

The UN Environment Management Group (EMG) is organizing a 2-Part Nexus Dialogue Series on Stockholm+50 to encourage reflections on the achievements and challenges encountered by the UN system in addressing the environmental agenda since the 1972 Stockholm Conference. The Dialogues will highlight personal reflections of a diverse array of people who have worked with the UN system in many different capacities on lessons learned since 1972 and their recommendations on the future implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development.

Touching upon the themes of the Stockholm+50 leadership dialogues, the ideas that emerge from the Nexus Dialogues will support the EMG’s contribution to the Stockholm+50 International Meeting.

Dialogue series:

Part 1: Taking Stock of Our Responsibility & Opportunity: 23 November 2021 - Part 1 will engage participants in reflecting on the journey over the past fifty years – on successes, lessons learned and gaps in mainstreaming and implementing the environmental dimension of sustainable development by the UN.

Part 2: Foreseeing the Future of Our Responsibility & Opportunity: 30 November 2021 - Part 2 of the dialogue will engage participants in aspiring towards a shared future where we are living in harmony with nature, honoring current and future generation’s Right to a Healthy Environment, envisaging a sustainable recovery from COVID-19 and proposing specific and actionable plans to accelerate the achievement of the environmental dimension of the SDGs to achieve a healthy planet for the prosperity of all.
