Event Overview: 

This year falls upon the 30th anniversary of the International Environmental Technology Center (IETC) of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). IETC was established in 1992 based on the decision of the UNEP Governing Council with a mandate to facilitate the transfer of environmentally sound technologies focusing on urban environmental and freshwater issues. In recent years, UNEP-IETC focused its activities on environmentally sound management of solid waste to implement UNEP’s Medium-term Strategies and Programmes of Work   

To commemorate the anniversary, IETC will organize the main event on 3 October 2022.  Prior to the main event, UNEP-IETC will also organize a series of online events. The event will be opened by keynote speeches by invited guests. Following the opening session of the event is a short presentation on 30 years of IETC and a panel discussion. The panelists with diverse fields will share their ideas and visions to achieve a zero-waste society with sustainable waste management in the next 30 years.
