In response to Resolution 2/7 from the second session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) and reaffirmed in Resolution 4/7 from its fourth session, the Global Waste Management Outlook (GWMO) 2024 offers an updated assessment of global waste management and an analysis of data concerning municipal solid waste management worldwide.

This press event at UNEA-6 announced the launch of the report with the presence of the Executive Director of UNEP, the President of the International Solid Waste Association, and Türkiye's Ambassador to Kenya and Permanent Representative to UNEP. The lead author introduced the overview of the report delving into the global waste landscape, shedding light on critical findings from GWMO 2024 about the current state of global waste generation. The report emphasizes the pivotal role of decision-makers in both the public and private sectors in moving towards zero waste.
