In the lead up to the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), scheduled for December 2025, North America Region conducted a regional consultative Meeting for North America, aligned with the UNEA-7 theme of Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet.
A virtual consultation took place on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, from 1:00 to 3:30 PM EDT. The outcomes of this session were synthesized into a report capturing North American perspectives, best practices, and key recommendations. This report was submitted to Environment Ministers ahead of the Assembly to inform global discussions and decision-making.
Registration remained open until 1 October 2025. Participants from across Canada and the United States contributed practical insights and explored targeted opportunities to accelerate intergovernmental action on environmental challenges.
Organizations were invited to determine their own representatives; however, participation was limited to two delegates per organization to ensure meaningful engagement and balanced input from all attendees
For more information, participants were invited to reach out to michael.byrd@solve.mit.edu for questions about the specific event and logistics, or to astha.sanghavi@un.org for questions about UNEA-7 and UNEP more broadly.
