WUF13 ONE UN Event | Convened by UNDP on behalf of Local2030 Coalition
About the Event
This ONE UN event, convened by the Local2030 Coalition’s Working Group 2 on Financing the Localisation of the SDGs, will showcase how UN agencies are working jointly to support local and regional governments in adopting Integrated Local Financing Frameworks (ILFFs) and innovative financial instruments to accelerate the localisation of finance for the SDGs. Building on the Sevilla Commitment and Platform for Action (SPA) initiative “Localizing Finance To Drive Systemic Impact For The Achievement Of The 2030 Agenda”, the session will explore progress on ILFFs and financial instruments and their impact at the city and regional level.
ILFFs and Local Financial Instruments provide a structured approach to connect local development plans, covering housing, urban risk management, mobility, food, and climate resilience, to public and private finance, enabling cities to move beyond fragmented, project-based approaches toward coherent, scalable investment strategies. The event will present concrete country experiences where integrated financing approaches are already underway, and demonstrate how Working Group 2 provides a coordinated space for UN entities, UNDP, UNEP, UNICEF, and UN-Habitat, and partners to align their respective mandates, instruments, and tools around a shared financing logic.
The event will introduce the WG2 2026 roadmap, focusing on six countries as learning and action laboratories, alongside a National to Local in-country workshop. It will deliver precise levers of action informed by the “Local Finance is Development Finance” technical brief published by Working Group 2, and present the Sevilla Platform for Action’s commitment to support at least 40 ILFFs and innovative financial instruments by 2030.
